The Greatest Showman

Ever since I first saw the trailer for The Greatest Showman I knew I wanted to see it, and had a good feeling that I was going to love it. I went to see it last week, and rather than loving it, this film has me conflicted. I think I’ve now processed it enough to work out why, or at least I will have done by the end of this blog!

I’m conflicted because of how I felt straight after seeing it – I liked it, and the girl I saw it with absolutely loved it which I think made me think I must’ve done too. But then thinking more about it, I changed my mind – I actually felt a bit disappointed by the characters. One thing I did love was the songs – so I listened to the album a couple of times, and having listened, processed and thought a little more, I now I think I get the message of the film; it’s deeper than the catchy tunes and splendour of the show – and I now like it, I think. Let me explain…

Resolutions and Roots

I’m currently dog sitting for a very handsome Chocolate Labrador. He belongs to my aunt who is currently on a vacation in Sydney. So I am sitting in her front room, with this lovely dog at my feet, binge watching Elementary on her TV. This lovely dog requires a total of 4 walks a day:…

New Year’s Resolutions: Reviewed

This year, I had decided to set myself a resolution for the first time in years. Remarkably, I’ve achieved what I intended. For the first time ever (personally and globally perhaps?) I have stuck to a resolution. Insert shocked emoji here! I’m pretty sure whoever invented New Year’s Resolutions dreamed this day might come, but…

Muddy

You’ll often hear me say that going for a walk provides me with inspiration. Whether the inspiration is for a blog post here, for solving a problem, or just life. Over this Christmas period, I have been blessed to dog sit for a gorgeous Spaniel called Reggie. He requires walking 3 times a day, so…

Last Christmas

Can I start by wishing you a very Merry Christmas, whatever that might look like to you. Last Christmas, I gave you my heart I attended a carol service that brought me back to God – the year before, I’d been involved in a horrible accident and I’d been a bit distant from God, as…

Moving Mountains

I’ve been having a hard time again recently. I was turning up for work crying every day, unable to focus on anything for longer than a few minutes and struggling to see the point to get out of bed every day. I’ve experienced this before – since my workplace accident 2 years ago, I’ve had…

Darling Buds

This week I decided to explore the public footpaths near where I work. After work on a couple of days, I decided to venture forth into the unknown. I love nature and greenery, in particular – trees. I love woods, forests or just big, interesting looking trees. I always find that I can connect to…

Crisis of Confidence

I had an amazing time at Hillsong Conference a few weeks ago. It was uplifting, encouraging and enlightening. To try and carry my sense of wonder into my everyday life, I have changed my morning routine. I no longer listen to the radio in the morning as I get ready and drive to work –…

God’s Voice

Just over a week ago I was at Hillsong Conference London. My first Conference. I had the most amazing time – the teaching was phenomenal, the worship was transcendent and the Holy Spirit was moving. I decided to go with my sister and her church, when I booked I was a bit of a church…

Here’s To The Fools Who Dream

Earlier this year I saw a film in the cinema that absolutely tugged (or even yanked) on my heartstrings. I loved it, and then hated it, but hated it because I loved it so much. It made me cry. It made me laugh til I cried. It made my heart feel so full. It made me hurt inside. It literally made me feel like I was on top of the world and utter crap all within 128 minutes.
