I know that the title of this blog is a little bit of an oxymoron, but I recently discovered that there are a fair few films that, as a self-proclaimed film fan, I should have seen. So I will seek to rectify this in the near future (and maybe I’ll post a mini review after watching each of these so-called groundbreakingly awesome films). But in the meantime, here’s the list. Let me know if you agree/disagree that I should have seen them, or if there’s more you’d add to this list in the comments!
These films are in no particular order:
1. Jackie Brown
As a Tarantino fan, it’s terrible that I haven’t seen this film. However, today I discovered (in conversation with my colleagues) that Robert De Niro is in this film. Now I like Bobbie De Niro a little more than the average person (I think it’s genetic… my dad’s a big fan). So I’ve failed as a fan on two fronts. I seek the forgiveness of both brilliant men and will see this classic ASAP.
I know, I know… what Robert De Niro films have I seen?! It’s horrific that I’m yet to see this iconic and much celebrated trilogy.
This film, it’s been argued to me, is the greatest Christmas film ever. I would not know. I’ll be fixing that this Christmas!
4. Taxi Driver
I now feel like the worst Robert De Niro fan ever. It’s more that I have a soft spot for the man, much like my soft spot for Harry Redknapp… I don’t really understand why he’s awesome, but I accept it.
5. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly
It’s in a *lot* of best film ever lists. And yet… I’m none the wiser. I haven’t seen many westerns either, so I reckon this is the place to start.
Apparently I’ll cry. A lot.
7. Goodfellas
My dad likes Robert De Niro and gangster films… and the two sort of go hand in hand. I’m yet to see most of his collection.
8. Fight Club
The most I know about this film, is the first rule of fight club, is to not talk about fight club.
9. One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest
My dad is always horrified I haven’t seen this one… I need to find out what the fuss is about!
10. Rear Window
I’ve heard great things… and I haven’t seen that much Hitchcock!
Feel free to judge me dramatically for this list. Now I’ve finished it, I judge me for having not seen these films.
